The House
$800/week
A $200 (USD) deposit per week is required when the reservation is made with the full amount due no less than two weeks before your stay unless other arrangements have been made.
Most of the living takes place on the front porch which is
covered in case of rain. There is a table and six chairs at one end
and a single bed hammock swing and sitting chairs at the other. It has
a spectacular view of the water and is great for relaxing and watching the sun set. There is a patio on the back of the
house and another in the front.
Flying In
Sayulita is located approximately 40 kilometers from the Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Many airlines fly into Vallarta. There is now a non-stop from Seattle-Puerto Vallarta which takes 4 ˝ hours (Alaska Airlines).It is an hour later in Puerto Vallarta than it is in Sayulita. The time in Sayulita is one hour later than it is in Seattle. When you leave, plan your departure from Sayulita on Vallarta time.
Make sure you have a passport as they are required now for travel to Mexico. Once you get to Mexico you will go through immigration where they will give you a small piece of paper (do not throw it away. You cannot leave the country without it) Then you will claim your bags and go through customs. They have a red light/green light system to check bags. If you push the red button you must be searched.
How to get to Sayulita
We can help you make arrangements to be picked up at the Puerto Vallarta Airport. Contact us for more information. You can be picked up at the airport in a Suburban, stop at a supermarket to pick up supplies and groceries for you trip and be brought directly to La Joyita. A return trip can also be arranged.Taxis are available inside the terminal and cost about $40.00-$50.00. If you walk outside of the airport and across the bridge to the other side of the road the taxis are cheaper than if you retain one inside the airport.
Cars can be rented at the airport. They are not absolutely necessary in the village unless you want to explore the coastline.
Buses to Sayulita are available across the street (an orange foot bridge from the terminal) and are about $2.00.
The Village of Sayulita
Everything you need is available in the village. They have fresh produce, liquor, dairy products, meat, fresh fish etc. You can also buy fish from the fisherman off the beach.There are many restaurants in Sayulita. Do not be afraid to eat the food. People do get sick, but it usually lasts no more than a day. Pepto Bismol or Lomatil can help. Some people take extra garlic capsules or grapefruit extract.
There are internet cafés in Sayulita.
Money
There is an ATM machine at the airport and also in La Penita, a town about 45 minutes north of Sayulita. Take cash, NOT TRAVELERS CHECKS, and you can get a good rate at the airport. You can also change money at Jose Louis's liquor store in Sayulita and a change place just opened up next to Luz and Cruz's tienda. They will get an ATM at some point.Insects
There are scorpions. The smaller they are the more injurious. Make sure you don't leave clothes on the floor, and ALWAYS check your bed before getting in, the inside of your shoes, and shake out your clothes before putting them on.There are many remedies---salt water, lime juice, Clorox. There is a clinic North of Sayulita in San Francisco if necessary. Kind of like a rattlesnake bite, being still is good treatment.
Wearing shoes in the house is a good idea, especially if you get up in the night. Make sure you have a flashlight or turn on the light first.
Mosquitoes are bad sometimes, it just depends on the season. Take bug juice just in case. There is mosquito netting over the beds.
